January operations confirmed for iPort Rail, Doncaster

The iPort Rail multimodal hub in Doncaster will be operational in January, developer Verdion has today confirmed. Set to transform the rail freight industry with a state-of-the-art facility within 7 hours of all UK deep water ports and set up for easy access to Europe, it will sit comfortably in the top 5 of UK inland ports.

Steve Freeman, Managing Director of iPort Rail said: “This is real progress. The site is complete and connected to the national rail and motorway network. Network Rail is going to spend the next few weeks testing signals and then we will be up and running.

“There is already a great deal of interest and not just from the main operators who like our independent offer, but other businesses drawn by being integrated into the wider iPort hub.”
